$10,000 raised for the Svan Recording Project - and more to go

A little less than a month ago, the Svan Recording Project team, including Rosalie Elkinton '11.5 and myself (Sarah Gibson, '10.5) launched a campaign on kickstarter.com to begin to raise money to transform raw recordings from this summer into a publication of traditional Georgian folk songs for scholars, folklorists, and musicians.  Our goal was $3,000, but with the support of Georgian music enthusiasts and friends, we've raised more than $10,000.  It's been really inspiring to see who's donated to the project - it runs the gamut of music scholars in the Republic of Georiga to audience members of our January concerts to strangers who have happended upon the website.

For more information about the fundraising project (and if you want to donate, there's still 19 more hours!), visit http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/174626307/svan-recording-project

The website, www.svanrecordingproject.com, and this blog archive have more details about the project and sound clips from the summer's recording sessions in Svaneti.
