Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

I didn't have any interviews lined up yesterday, so I took the chance to visit the 798 Art District in the western area of Beijing.

This used to be a military factory, but after the factory was decommissioned, artists moved in to take advantage of low rents. Rents are anything but low now, but the place retains its edgy, avant-garde feel.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.
